Badminton/Badminton
Expert: Külle Laidmäe - 10/26/2010
QuestionIs there a good version of the sport? Maybe goodminton perhaps? Enough
jokes Cletus!! I am just mainly wondering how it got the name badminton. I
mean you never hear the announcers on ESPN talking about the bad boys of
badminton. Normally the only time you hear about the sport is when you are
unlucky enough to have a friend that pulls a make shift net, a couple of
rackets and a ball/net looking thingy out of a closet. Normally this happens
when there is absolutely nothing else to do. So my question is, now days with
all of the electronic devices and games does anyone ever play badminton
anymore? It seems like a dying game, but you tell me is it? IS IT?

AnswerHi,
Quite difficult questions to answer.
First, about the history of badminton you can read here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badminton
And, actually, there are quite a lot of badminton players. People, who have something better to do, but choose to play badminton simply because they enjoy it ... I'm one of them :P And, at least in Tallinn, it is quite difficult to find a place to practice after work.
So, in my opinion, it is definitely not a dying game :)
