Question
Is it legal to block a lift at the net when the
opponent has no chance of making a stroke that
can follow through over the net, ie, the shuttle
is already close to the floor?

IBF rule isn't very clear about it.  Rule 13.4.4
says that you can't obstruct the opponent, ie,
prevent the opponent from executing a legal
stroke that follows the shuttle over the net.
But it doesn't mention the case above.

Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi,

I am not 100% sure about that, but in my country it is allowed to block the lift only if your racquet does not go over the net.
But, maybe it is better if you asked this from your local badminton federation or from some court official.

All the best,
