Question
Hello, My name is Jim Fluri, I live near Vienna Austria.

My Question is this-

Where is the Guardian of the Bahai Faith?

In the Will and Testament of `Abdu'l-Baha it is stated that it is incumbent on the Guardian of the Cause to appoint in his lifetime a successor (Guardian). It appears that there is no Guardian of the Bahai faith now (not as an individual anyway). I have read that Baha'u'llah said he rules from the throne of David (proclamation of Baha'u'llah). If this is the case this makes Baha'u'llah the Return of Christ (Messiah Ben David, King on the throne of David) If this is the case then it make perfect sense that the Guardian of the Bahai Faith at the head of the International Bahai Counsel is just what the world needs at this time. Where is the Guardian of the Cause of God?

Answer
Dear Jim,

Thank you for writing.  The living Guardian of the Cause of God lives in Australia.  His name is Joel Bray Marangella. His website is:  http://www.Bahai-Guardian.com
He is the third Guardian of the Baha'i Faith.  The sacred and immutable Will and Testament of Abdu'l-Baha' which you mentioned, delineates also that the "sacred head" of the Universal House of Justice is the Guardian of the Baha'i Faith.  The terms are synonymous.  Shoghi Effendi stated that the International Baha'i Council which he established by his January 9th, 1951 cablegram to "All National assemblies of East and West", his only Proclamation during his 36-year Ministry, was the "embryonic" Universal House of Justice.  Therefore its "sacred head" was destined to become the second Guardian of the Baha'i Faith upon the first Guardian's death.  It doesn't matter if there was a time lapse before that understanding became clear to humans, the Divine decree is immutable in the Masters Will and Testament, identified by Shoghi Effendi in his Spiritual Testament, The Dispensation of Baha'u'llah, to be "The Charter of the New World Order", and therefore the Guardianship remains under the promised protection recorded in the Will and Testament, for the duration of the 1000 years of this millennium.

In view of the fact that only the Guardian of the Baha'i Faith is empowered to interpret Baha'i Holy Writ and Holy Text, the Guardianship is the Institution which preserves this Day as the promised "...day which will not be followed by night".
Christianity has no definitive interpretative authority and has divided into thousands of sects.
Any Baha'i organization devoid of definitive interpretative authority is no different than Christianity.
