AboutSuzanne Gerstner Expertise I can answer questions on all aspects of the Baha`i Faith, but am most interested in the spiritual teachings of this and other Faiths, and the interconnectedness of all religions. I believe that true religion should bring about love and unity. This is what the world really needs right now and the Baha`i teachings have a lot to offer on this subject.
Experience I've been a Baha'i for the past 23 years and have been answering questions on the newsgroup soc.religion.bahai since 1998.
Education/Credentials BA in Liberal Arts; Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and am currently working on an MA in psychotherapy.
Question I had heard through the Baha'i faith that there are 275 spiritual principles. Would you be able to do some research and find out where that information is? I have looked through the Baha'i literature but have not been able to find it. Needless to say the reason I am looking for it is to find out what the principles are. What are the 275 spiritual principles? If you can't find it don't feel bad I have asked other people of the
Baha'i and they were not able to help. In fact most of them never got back to me on it so I am already use to that. :) I know it is a hard question.
Answer Dear Randall,
I'm not sure who told you there were 275 spiritual principles. The spiritual teachings are vast, and there could easily be that many, but I've never heard of them being counted like that. The main spiritual principles of the Baha'i Faith are love and unity. If we could all put just those two into practice, this world would change into another world. In fact, that's what the Faith says is going to happen:
"This is a new cycle of human power. All the horizons of the world are luminous, and the world will become indeed as a garden and a paradise. It is the hour of unity of the sons of men and of the drawing together of all races and all classes. You are loosed from ancient superstitions which have kept men ignorant, destroying the foundation of true humanity.
The gift of God to this enlightened age is the knowledge of the oneness of mankind and of the fundamental oneness of religion. War shall cease between nations, and by the will of God the Most Great Peace shall come; the world will be seen as a new world, and all men will live as brothers.
