About Barry Benjamin Expertise I am a hotel owner in the Out Islands for the last 30 years. I would like to help people understand what the Out Island experience is all about. I can answer questions about what hotels are like, what to do there, if they are moderate or expensive, who goes there generally, what the weather is like, what there is to do on individal islands, some contacts of people to talk to, a little history of some of the islands and my opinion on what are the most comfortable places to visit.
My wife and I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this year (November) and were looking to head to The Bahamas. We're leaving our 3 kids behind and looking for a nice, quiet place to stay but also wouldn't mind a little action nearby if we so choose. Any thoughts? The Compass Point looks very nice....
Thanks in advance,
Paul
Answer Paul:
The Bahamas is actually a very diverse place with much to offer in Nassau and in a completely different way just as much to offer in a very out of the way place like Cat Island and there are places in between. If you are looking for gambling of any kind you only have three choices, Nassau, Grand Bahama or Exuma. If you are looking for nightclub type of action more than one night of your stay, it probably would be best to choose Nassau or Grand Bahama. If you lean more towards the nature side of things, you could really choose just about any of the Out Islands with Exuma, Abaco and Harbor Island having the most nightlife 'action'. Even if there is not large resort with any 'action' available most every little hotel has some music or entertainment available once or twice a week. I just really cannot give you any specifics without knowing more about you and your wife. I am sure you will miss your children but also enjoy the ability for you and your wife to do some things on your own for a few days. Maybe even get in some serious sleeping. Enjoy.
