Bahamas/Drinking water

Question
Hi Barry,  I was wondering if you happen to know if the drinking water in and around Marsh Harbour, Great Guana Cay and the cays in the immediate vicinity is safe to drink? Would you recommend bottled water or is my group relatively safe. I believe the Dolphin Beach Resort uses reverse osmosis, but I am concerned about the other locations in the area. Thanks do much for your help!

Answer
Doug:
The best answer I can give you is to use the water that you feel safe with. The best way to do this is to bring a stainless steel bottle for each person who is traveling with you and fill those with drinking water you feel safe with each time you need water for any activity for that day. A plus is that you will not be contributing the plethora of plastic water bottles from that day forward.

I am a hotel owner in the Out Islands for the last 30 years. I would like to help people understand what the Out Island experience is all about. I can answer questions about what hotels are like, what to do there, if they are moderate or expensive, who goes there generally, what the weather is like, what there is to do on individal islands, some contacts of people to talk to, a little history of some of the islands and my opinion on what are the most comfortable places to visit.
