Question
My husband would like to go to the Bahamas at the end of June for a short 4 night stay.  Where is the most inexpensive but nice place to stay?  Should we do all-inclusive to save or is it cheaper to go to restaurants?

Answer
Shelly:
Alot depends upon what you like, what you think is a nice place. Most of the all-inclusive places are high end types, although in the Out Islands the places are much more friendly even if they are all-inclusive. I would lean towards eating in a different restaurant myself. I like to meet people and get something different to eat each night. Most of the time you can find inexpensive restaurants that have great food (local) and it might even be less expensive than the all-inclusive. Of course that is not including any booze. In Nassau, Orange Hill or Dillets for small out of the way places or the Nassau Beach for a larger more touristy place. In the Out Islands just about anywhere is pretty good as most properties are owned and operated by the owners. Its hard to beat dealing directly with the person who can make the discount on the spot, and if they live on the property then they usually end up eating in the same restaurant as you do, so the food is always better than average and many times tastes home-cooked. I hope that helps.

I am a hotel owner in the Out Islands for the last 30 years. I would like to help people understand what the Out Island experience is all about. I can answer questions about what hotels are like, what to do there, if they are moderate or expensive, who goes there generally, what the weather is like, what there is to do on individal islands, some contacts of people to talk to, a little history of some of the islands and my opinion on what are the most comfortable places to visit.
