Ballet/Sports Massage in Ballet

Question
Hello Ms. Buxton,
I am currently researching Sports Massage in its relation to Ballet.  For our assignment every student is required to give information on the sport and a related injury, perform some massage techniques on affected muscles, perform pre-event post-event and maintenance massage on affected muscles, and discuss use of either hydrotherapy or thermotherapy.  I was wondering if you could help me out.  I'm having a little difficulty finding the information on ballet as opposed to other sports.  Thank you so much!

All of these sites have information that I hope will help you formulate your report.

Also, a fantastic newsletter is http://www.thebodyseries.com You can view years of archives of questions and answers, all about dance injuries.  Deborah Vogel, the author, gives detailed and clear information.

Ice is usally recommended over heat for treatment of dance injuries.

I hope this helps! All the best, Dianne

A brief follow up - I've recommended to almost everyone to read my articles and blog entries at http://www.theballetstore.com You have to create a user name to log in to see all the blog entries - your privacy is safe! I really apologize that I didn't tell you this - I'm not a technical person!
