AboutConnie Expertise I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help
Experience I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
Question Hello Connie,
I just have a quick question about pointe and if I am able to do it. You see I used to take ballet for maybe 2-4 years, but my school closed down. At the same time I took hip-hop dance. I am very passionate about dance and I am starting to try to continue on, by myself at home. I'm not sure if I am able to do pointe. I really want to try, but I don't wanna hurt myself. Maybe if I worked on strengthening my legs and feet for a while I could attempt it? What do you think?

Answer Taking pointe at home is probably not the best idea. It's best to train with a teacher who knows what they're doing. However, if you stick with just doing releves and echappes on your shoes you should be okay with practicing by yourself, if you're properly warmed up. My advice would be to look for a teacher who you can take classes from so you can achieve your maximum potential as a dancer.
