Question
i love to dance ballet. it means the world to me and i want to be thinner to carry out my dream of becoming a professional.  i am 5'4" and weigh 155 lbs. most of it is muscle but i want to lose the fat i have. do you have and good training ideas that i could use?

Answer
It's really tough to lose weight, but it can be done.  Obviously the best way is diet and exercise.  Continue with  your dance classes and maybe do a little bit of cardio on days you don't have class.  Try running, swimming, biking, or working out on a machine.  As for eating habits (i think this is the hardest part) try to cut out, or at least cut back on the amount of junk food and desserts you are eating.  Eat three meals a day, with some light snacks inbetween if you get hungry.  Don't eat when you're not full.  If you stick with this you can lose weight, you just have to have patience and persevere.   If this doesn't work or you're not satisfied you can always go see a nutritionist who can give you better advice for your specific situation. best of luck!

Expertise

I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help

Experience

I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
