QuestionHi, could you help me improve my adage? 2 years ago I pulled the muscle on the inside of the leg just above the knee up to the groin whilst performing professionaly. I had the neccessary physio and then stopped dancing for a year.Upon return I have neve been able to regain the flexibility or strength properly and believe there is a build up of scar tissue. I have become very weak on that side and it is very painful doing anything in second.I can now only open my legs 45 degrees in box splits where as before I did them easily. Even tried Glucosamine tablets which helped a little. Please help!! Thanks,
Mary

Above is a link to Deborah Vogel's story of recovery from a shoulder injury - you'll get some more reality on the recovery you are still in.(Deborah Vogel is an expert physical therapist and movement analyst).
Yes, you have scar tissue or adhesions in your muscle. Your range of motion can be increased, and you'll need help. Dance injuries need to be treated until recovery is complete. And don't push yourself in ballet classes - it will just make things worse.
I would first see a chiropractor, activator if possible. Look on activator.com and see if one is close to you. If you end up calling some, explain your injury very carefully and let them know that you need some muscle release (myofascial release) and recovery of your range of motion also. The chiropractor can do myofascial release, or refer you to a massage therapist with careful instructions. And of course, adjust any misalignments present in any of your joints.
Also, if you find some activator chiropractors to call, ask if they practice kinesiology and supply Standard Process nutrition. I add this because Standard Process has excellent Glucosamine and other supplements especially formulated to rebuild tissues properly. They are not expensive, as supplements go.
Icing the painful area is vital. This will sooth inflammation in the tissues. If you want to learn more about inflammation, and foods that keep inflammation chronic, go to

All the best with your rehabilitation, Mary.
