Question
Hi, I'm 14 years old. I have never really been interested in anything until about the last year or so. I have just realized that there are a lot of things that I love--that I want to be a part of.
I want to be become a dancer, not professionally, but I want to dabble in it and learn the art of it (including both ballroom and ballet). I'm 14 (my mom says that's too late) and I'm 200 lbs. and only about 5 foot 4. But I'm losing weight--quickly. in the last four months I've lost 30 some odd pounds. a lot faster than I expected.

anyway, I was wondering if you think if I lost the appropriate amount of weight by say...next fall...would it be too late to learn ballet?

Answer
Hi Khayla. No, it would not be too late to learn ballet. Many people start later than that, in fact it seems to me that the adult late starters are even more noticeable in ballet than before. You can start at whatever time you feel ready.

All the best, Dianne.
