Question
im 16 years old and have recently took an interest in ballet. I really would love to start mainly lyrical ballet but i keep wondering am i too old..? Also about 3 years ago i dislocated my left knee and ever since it has been weak and tends to get sore wen i dance as i curently do street and urban dance. Is it a bad idea to start ballet with an injury such a mine? or would it make my knee stronger? Please Please Please Help!! lol. Thanks a milion.x

Answer
First of all, I would look into some physical therapy for your knee, or at least get a doctor's opinion.  Because I'm not a doctor, I don't know if it's safe to dance with your injury.
However, your age is not an issue! People start ballet at all ages.  It's difficult to be a professional if you start late, but if you're just interested for recreational purposes there's absolutely nothing holding you back!  Look for an adult ballet class near you. It will be tough at first, but you'll catch on pretty quickly.  I hope you enjoy ballet!

Expertise

I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help

Experience

I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
