Question
Hi, I'm an adult and interesting in possibly taking some ballet just for fun. If I
bend down on my knees a lot though, my knees feel strain. Can this be
overcome/is there a way to have less strain on the knees?

Answer
i'm not a doctor, so i would talk to one before taking ballet class.  hopefully ballet would help to strengthen your knees, but it could be tough on them if they're easily irritated.  a basic step in ballet is the plie, or bend of the knee.  i would talk to your doctor and the ballet teacher to make sure you don't injure yourself badly.  best of luck!

Expertise

I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help

Experience

I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
