Ballet/Pointe after an injury

Question
I have been on pointe for almost three years, but recently I got injured and stayed off pointe for a week and a half. Now, every time I take a pointe class, my feet feel really mushy (like Jello) after about 20 minutes. I thought it was just because I wasn't used to pointe, since I had just started, but it hasn't gone away yet and it has been about a month. It also never happened during rehearsal for our production of the Nutcracker, only when I take pointe class (doing exercises such as relevees and passes). What is wrong with my feet and how can I improve it?

Answer
Hi Tina. I recommend that you see a chiropractor who will adjust any misaligned foot joints and help you figure out why your foot muscles are feeling this way. I'm not sure what you mean by "mushy", but weakness needs to be addressed.

Have you added any foot exercises to your recovery?

All the best with this, Dianne
