Ballet/too late to perform?

Question
Hi, I'm 19 and I've just started learning ballet and I absolutely love it. I really want to perform ballet as a career but as you know, I'm too old to join a company. Is there any other way to perform ballet professionally? Thanks for your advice.

Answer
Liz, as far as I am aware, it is very difficult to freelance as a ballet dancer.

After a few years when you have completed your training, maybe there will be different venues. The world keeps changing, amazingly. But then again, ballet is also on the conservative end of things.

All the best, Dianne
