Question
Okay... here it goes. I love to dance ballet and I'm starting beginning pointe but I can afford only one class a week... AND there are no scholarships available... I am supposed to take at least 2 classes a week... What should I do?

Answer
Hi Emily. One thing you can do is to go to the studio owner and ask if there is any clerical/promotional/admin help that is needed, and could you trade 2-3 hrs of work a week for an extra class.

Studios need help most of the time, especially with performances, answering phones, even cleaning. Sometimes assisting a teacher in a ballet class full of 4-5 year olds is needed. Ask!

Other than that (and I don't know how old you are), working and paying for your class may be an option - babysitting? Tutoring a younger child with homework? Use your imagination and see what you can come up with.

I hope this helps...
All the best, Dianne
