Question
I'm really interested in doing ballet. but I'm not sure what to tell my parents (sense I'm only 14). what should i tell them!?

Answer
Good Morning Elizabeth,

Depending of the view your parents have about Arts & sport, you may explain them what makes you want to take ballet lessons.

For example, if your feel your parents like artistic stuffs, you can explain them that ballet is, with painting, probably one of the oldest art form existing, and taking ballet lessons will develop your artistic expression.

If you think they are more "sport" oriented, explain them that ballet is a sport, as it needs long rehearsals, strength and devotion.

Overall, you need - as for any thing with parents - to explain them that YOU, Elizabeth, want to take ballet, that it is not an "idea like this" and that you will not give up after 3 classes. You must also be prepared to show yourself in ballet to your parents.

Why would not you ask them to come with you when you'll go and meet ballet academies in your area ? Not only it'll show them how motivated you are, also it will prove them that their position is important.

Any way, enjoy your ballet !
