Learn ballet (now in grade 6)
Please answer! (I know it's odd though...)

Answer
It's definitely not too late to start!  I would do some research and find a ballet studio that has teachers who were once professional dancers and teach a specific technique, like the Vaganova syllabus.  The studio should concentrate on improving students' technique and training, and should not focus mainly on recitals.

Ballet will be hard to learn with just a book and a friend.  You definitely need to find a good teacher.  However, books can be extremely helpful in supplementing your learning.

Best of luck!

Expertise

I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help

Experience

I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
