I am 17 yrs.old and I have had Ballet raining before. i took Ballet from ages 3 to 11. i stopped because my mom didn't think i was taking things seriously, i was always playing around in class. So, now, i regret behaving that way and really want to start Ballet again, i also took tap and Jazz at the academy of Dance in Wisconsin. I just don't know if i should at my age. i also want to know if you think i really could do this with my size. I am Fat, i weigh 189 and i am 5'4''.

Answer
Hi Jenelle. Taking ballet at your size is fine, and it will help you lose weight if you eat a healthy diet.

Since you are now able to work better in ballet class, I think you will enjoy it more.

"And of course, good proteins, lots of raw or lightly steamed green vegetables and salads, and fruits are mandatory. Did I say mandatory? Yes, I did! Your bones and muscles are MADE from what you eat. And so is your nervous system that your bones and muscles depend on." That quote is from my article at http://ezinearticles.com/?Ballet-Shoes,-Pointe-Shoes,-Daily-Exercise-and-Diet&id...  if you would like to read more of it.

There are more articles at www.ezinearticles.com by me that you might also benefit from - all about ballet technique, more on healthy eating, and many on pointe work.

Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions. All the best, Dianne
