Question I'm a sixteen year old boy just starting ballet because I never had the chance when I was younger and I was wondering if there is still a chance to be a professional performer with the right determination. I also am wondering if that is too unrealistic of a dream is being a teacher more likely? And what sort of diet/vitamins should I take to help with my practice, I'm working about four hours a day. Thank you!!!! any other tips would be great also.
Boys have an in with ballet - any ambition backed by some physical ability and talent will be received well. The sooner you can get into a professional program, the better.
Depending on your physical ability, you may become a pro dancer. I can't tell, but if you get the right training, doors will open for you that would not for a girl.
Don't waste time learning bad technique - and whether you dance or teach, you'll be on your way.
I can answer questions about ballet positions, ballet movements and ballet technique, pointe shoes and pre pointe exercise, mens training, ballet diet, general health issues related to dance, artistry, performance, modern dance, rehabilitation from injuries, and teaching ballet. I have taught ballet, choreographed, produced and directed dance companies. For any answers related to health questions I will offer my experience, and give references to information, but I also automatically include "see a professional".
