Question
Dear Dianne, I am 13 and am a new student at ballet and I want to also take up pilates. Will pilates make my thighs too bulky for ballet, though? The teacher's are huge and I don't want to be like that! Thanks!

Answer
Hi RAchel - no, Pilates will not make your thighs bulky. In fact, Pilates is known for developing long lean muscles, unless an individual is genetically meant to develop bulky muscles. It is possible that your teacher's thighs were already bulky before she/he studied Pilates.

All the best, Dianne
