Question
Hi Dianne

I had ballet teaching qualifications before I had my family and am considering taking this up again now they have grow and left home, what advice would you give me so I could come up to speed and update in order to teach. I would appreciate any advice you give. My qualifications were Associate teacher level.

Many thanks.

Marlene

Answer
Hi Marlene. I would contact all the studios near you and see if any of them teach the syllabus you qualified in - and then proceed to go on to the next level, or brush up on the Associate material you have taught. Find out what the needs are for teachers. I believe that adult students can audit classes and take ballet exams (as opposed to having to do it).

Also the UK Cecchetti and R.A.D. sites will provide you with current materials.

I'm not sure what the requirements would be for you in the UK - but it should be easy to find out.

Good for you for getting back to teaching!

All the best, Dianne
