Question
Hi im 16 and i have been dancing for 3 years. I am not on pointe yet. Do you think i will have problems trying to achieve dance funding for scholarship or minor in dance?
Also I have some back issues.. It always hurts the day after an intense dance class.. Tips, Tricks???

Answer
Hi Jasmine. Competition for scholarships exists! The Dance Spirit runs a list of all the colleges with dance departments - I'm not sure which issue it will be in this year, but you can go to http://www.dancespirit.com/ and look there.

As for back pain after classes, I recommend that you see a chiropractor who can determine if you have spinal misalignments as well as the muscle sprain you are feeling.

If you want to learn some stretching routines to relax all your muscles, look at my blog http://www.balletshoesandpointeshoes.blogspot.com/

Right at the top left there is a picture "The Ultimate Stretching Guide" which is simple and very effective. Also, the author, Deborah Vogel is offering a free copy of "Tune Up Your Turnout"   for April buyers - and it is great.

Feel free to ask any further questions! All the best, Dianne
