Question
Hello. My name is Sara I'm 15 , I really want to be a professional ballerina , but I'm a late starter I have been taking ballet for 10 months now , and I do take class 4 days a week , now I'm on a summer intensive in which I take 4 hours of ballet and point class, I have all the passion and determination but it seems impossible, when I see all this young dancers my age that do things I cant even dream of doing ..I just wanted to know what was your professional opinion , do I have a chance?

Answer
Hi Sara. I recommend that you get some feed back from your teachers at the end of the ballet summer intensive. They would have the best chance of giving a worth while opinion.

If your teachers think you have a chance, then keep working hard and see where you are in another year or so. That's all I can say right now. Too early to tell, maybe, and too early to give up....

Anyone with the right physique, talent and capacity for both working hard and working smart, has a chance. You have started late - yet you may be an exception to the usual.

And make sure you enjoy every minute of your training - accept the fact that it may not lead to a professional career, but love every minute of it! It will lead you somewhere wonderful....

All the best, Dianne
