Question Hi, I'm really looking for advice and HELP, I hope you can assist me on this. thank you so much in advance.
I turned 16 4 months ago. And I discovered a passion unlike any other Ballet.
I took jazz classes when I was about 5 years old but for about a month or two, and got pulled out because I couldn't do it. Cordination and balance issues. :( I am a bit flexible though even now. !
I fully conscious that it takes a LOT of work, dedication and discipline to do it. And I'm willing to submit myself. My mom says that the short period I took jazz classes for doesn't count. ¿what do you think? I know it was a really short time. But...... Also my balance isn't perfect but it's definitely better than before. Indeed. I don't know if you've seen the movie called "OneLlast Dance" with Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi but I felt it like a wake up call and I whish I could dance like her someday.
Thank you for your time again.
Answer Hi Sophia. The best thing you could do is go a dance studio and take a few classes. Explain to the teacher that you would like to train professionally, if possible. It is best to get feedback from someone who can see you study ballet.
I can answer questions about ballet positions, ballet movements and ballet technique, pointe shoes and pre pointe exercise, mens training, ballet diet, general health issues related to dance, artistry, performance, modern dance, rehabilitation from injuries, and teaching ballet. I have taught ballet, choreographed, produced and directed dance companies. For any answers related to health questions I will offer my experience, and give references to information, but I also automatically include "see a professional".
