Question
Hi, I'm 16 and I've been doing ballet for a few months. just for the past few weeks I've been having this weird pain in the top of my foot when I go onto demi, and even if I'm just walking. I think its my tendons, like their stressed or something but I don't know what to do, it also kinda feels like theres a bruise on the top of my foot when I press on it but theres no bruise. I really don't want to miss any of my ballet classes so if you could give me any info on what's wrong that would be awesome!

Answer
Hi Lindsey. I recommend that you see a podiatrist, chiropractor or physiotherapist and have this problem seen to. The sooner the better. You may end up missing a couple of ballet classes to rest this injury, but believe me, healing a mild injury is what you want to do, and not wait until it becomes a bigger problem.

This kind of pain would indicate that you have an inflammation in soft tissues, but you need to know exactly. So please have someone see this.

Treated properly (with maybe no more than some ice and rest) and soon enough, dance injuries can heal.

All the best, Dianne.
