Ballet/demi point

Question
I am a beginer in Ballet and I have trouble staying on demi point when doing chaine(shun-ay) turns. Are there any exercises that I can do to improve this?

Also I have flat feet. Can that affect my dancing?
ps: I have been taking Ballet for 3 years.

Thanks for your time.  Janine

Answer
It sounds like you need to work on strengthening your feet.  Practice your releves (8 on each leg, 16 on both, 3x a day).  Also do some ankle circles and theraband exercises. http://www.thera-bandacademy.com/exercises/showroutine.asp?erID=161&cat=bodypart

This should strengthen your feet, making it easier to maintain demi pointe.  They will also develop your foot muscles, making your arch more pronounced and making it easier to dance despite having flat feet.  I hope this helps!

Expertise

I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help

Experience

I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
