Question Hi! Well, I've just recently watched a vidoe on youtube called "the dreaded hooking big toe" and I have what she describes as "a clicking and grinding" at the ankle bone. I'm not on pointes yet, but my teacher is getting someone to look at all our feet to make sure they are ready for pointes, will this grinding stop me from getting my pointes(I really only get the problem on my right foot) and I can't do the exercise she shows on the video by myself, so I try so do it with my thera band, putting it on my big toe and slowly doing that. Is that okay to do? I hope you'll be able to help! thank you so much!

Answer Dear Kiz,
You don't say if the clicking and grinding causes you any pain. If it does (and even if it doesn't) I highly recommend you see a foot doctor. They will be able to give you a definitive answer about your ankle bone. I can't tell you if the clicking and grinding is bad without meeting you and examining your foot. If it causes pain I would take a break from classes. If the theraband exercise causes pain I would stop doing that too. If you see a doctor they will be able to diagnose and treat the issue so you can start pointe work. Best of luck and I hope everything works out!
I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help
Experience
I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
