Question
I'm trying out for a dance team and it requires fouettes. I've danced at my old high school but we didn't need to know how do do these things. Can you please give me and explanation on how to learn a fouette before the 25th of Feb...

Hopefully you can help!

Answer
Fouettes are a difficult step and you will probably have the most luck learning them if you can find somebody who will work with you to teach you.

A fouette starts with a pirouette (a single, for our purposes).  When you come around to the front after your turn plie on your standing leg and develope your working leg out to the side in second posistion.  Then releve on your standing leg and simultaneously bring your working leg back to retire, beating back and then front to give you momentum for your next turn.  Repeat!

It's difficult to explain, so here's a video:

There are two sections and the fouettes are in the second section.

If you have any specific questions don't hesitate to ask!  Good luck.

Expertise

I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help

Experience

I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
