Question
hey there! I am 14 and I have not got my pointe shoes yet, but will be later this year. I have only done pointe work for about 4 months so far, and I will do it till near the end of the year before getting pointes. do you only need a year of pointe work, generally, to get your pointes? also, getting them quite late... will it put me behind in pointe work and for further things like dancing with a company? thanks!

Answer
Good Morning Kiz,

Thanks a lot for your question ;

Most of the time, 1 to 4 years is(are) needed before a ballet dancer is able to take pointe and dance with them.

Starting pointe dancing a bit older than usual will not put you behind in pointe work, your ballet teacher knows when you are able to perform en pointe and, when he/she decides that you can, it will be in the best circumstances for you and your ballet career !
