Ballet/Is it too late?

Question
Hi, I'm 13 and I've been interested in ballet for a while and I went for about 1 year when I was about 4, so I don't remember much. I'm not over weight but I would say I am larger. I'm not sure if I could be able to start because I'm so old. Is it a good idea or am I just barking up the wrong tree?

Answer
You can definitely start ballet!  Becoming a professional dancer is more difficult when you start later but not impossible, and for recreation you can begin ballet at any age!  I would go ahead and find a good class to try and then see how you feel.  You can also talk to the teacher of your class and get their opinion.  Go ahead and try it out; I hope you like it!

Expertise

I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help

Experience

I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
