Question
Hello,
I'm having problems strecthing my calf muscles. Whenever I'm in a rise or en pointe for a long time, my calf muslces starts cramping up. I end up on the floor for a long time, my friend trying to flex my feet downward.
I drink a lot of water, and I strecth everyday. My calves are muscular, because of ballet and other sports. I'm I cramping up because my calves are too big? Is there a way for me to make them thinner? I don't want to loose the strength in my legs, but if there is a way to make them thinner, please advice me too.
thank you very much.

Answer
Hi Lily. Below are 2 articles I've written regarding muscle tension and mineral intake. I hope that information helps.

Also, strengthening the tiny foot muscles takes a work load off the lower leg muscles. The lower legs work too hard if there is any weakness in the feet, often the case with ballet dancers. You can learn how to develop the foot muscles with The Perfect Pointe Book, which you can get at http://balletpointeshoes.info

The Perfect Pointe Book has lots of instructional videos on the use of the feet, muscle relaxation and much more.

The size of your calves are natural to your body and won't change much. However, your calf muscles may be a little swollen from the strain they are having, and could look a little sleeker once you solve this problem.

All the best with this Lily. I'd love to hear how it works out.

Regards, Dianne
