Ballet/Extensions

Question
Hello,
I'm a young contemporary dancer that is looking for a little extra advice on improving extensions. I've always been told that if I do a certain exercise, it will definitely improve them. However, I just haven't seen the results. So, what is the best technique to help me get my extensions to perfection? I am strong and very flexible so whatever you may suggest shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks so much!

Answer
Hi Krisitna. Here is an article on arabesque -

http://balletshoesandpointeshoes.blogspot.com/2008/02/ultimate-ballet-line-arabe

http://blog.thebodyseries.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/psoas-strength-theraban   is a video showing how to strengthen the psoas (leg lifting postural muscle) using a theraband...

You can get the DVD "Analysing Arabesque" if you wish to learn more about it in that way, (and all of Deborah Vogel's articles and DVDs) can be found at http://linkbrander.om/lb/5462

Strengthening core muscles will help you use the flexibility that you have.

All the best, Dianne
