Ballet/Grades and age

Question
I have no dance experience whatsoever, but I've been thinking about taking up ballet for a long time but done nothing about it. If I take classes, it's possible for me to start at grade 2. However, how old are most people when they are grade 2? It sounds silly but I don't want to learn alongside 6 year olds (I'm 15). Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
hmm, our clases are not in grades.
most people i know who start ballet at an older age feel the most comfortable in an adult beginning class.  I would look for one of those, and then if you feel you are surpassing that level you can move to normal classes.
hope this helps!

Expertise

I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help

Experience

I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
