Ballet/Injured knee

Question
During my training i have been going to two studios and one where the instructor has really been pushing me and another where the instructor doesn't believe in pushing because of injury worries. In the spring I had injured my knee doing a promenade type movement and my knee started to burn and felt as though someone was heavily pressing on my shin. I thought it would just go away but it didn't, there would be times when i were to do a pirouette that it would have the same feeling and when standing on that leg at barre it felt as though it was jamming. I went to a physical therapist and she said i needed to strengthen the muscle around the knee. However i already have this huge muscle near my knee and my teacher says that I'm bulky so I don't want to get more bulky. This muscle would tense up whenever I would point or stand on it with the wrong weight distribution. Is there any advise as to how I can help it feel better and work better.
Thank you for your time and I hope you have answers

Answer
I think you should see a chiropractor. Likely, your knee went out of alignment when you first felt the pain and pressure, or sometime before that. If so, no therapy will fix that except a chiropractic manipulation. Did you have an x-ray? Just wondering....

Also, regardless of when the injury happened, there was probably a condition already existing that led to an injury during a seemingly easy movement.

I honestly can't think of anything you can do except get a chiropractor to look at it. They are usually good at adjusting and giving advice as to the muscle conditions involved in the injury.

All the best, Dianne.
