AboutConnie Expertise I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help
Experience I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
Question I have trained in all the genres but since graduating college have been focusing on hip hop and generally teach classes of differing ages in hip hop. The studio i work for would like me to teach a 5-7 year old beginner ballet class and i am very nervous.
Can you give me some tips on books or cds I should buy? Or what type of warm ups and techniques i should be instilling?
Answer Some great books if you're teaching for five to seven year olds are ones about creative movement or fun dance games. as for warm ups just try some ankle circles, gentle stretches, flex and pointes... anything that you've done in dance class before that seems appropriate should work. good luck =]
