Ballet/Toes

Question
Well I have been on pointe for four years and during this past week my toes seem to hurt worse. It is not really my toes but my toenails and only on my big toe. I am wondering how to make it stop. I know they are supposed to hurt but after doing a few steps I can't get up anymore without tears roling down my face. Pleas help!!!

Answer
I went through a while when i couldn't take pointe class because my feet hurt so much.  I tried out all different shoes, but none of them really helped.  Finally my mom convinced me to try on a different size.  I ended up being a full size bigger than the shoe i was wearing!  I would try going to get new shoes.  Padding also can help.  The big tips by bunheads are good for toenail problems.  Hope your feet feel better!

Expertise

I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help

Experience

I've seen ballet since the age of 0, because of my parents, and I am training to become a professional dancer now.
