Ballet/ballet shoes

Question
Hi Dianne,
I have a question about ballet shoes. I would like to wear my ballet shoes to a dance at my highschool, but they are point shoes and do not look fashionable. I have been to my local dance stores and have not found a ballet recital shoe that has the satin ribbons that tie up the ankle but that also is not a pointe shoe.

Is there even such a shoe? I am really beginning to doubt that there is because this is simply a fashion statement...

Thanks a lot for your help,
Lisa

Answer
Hi Lisa. I don't think there is such a shoe. However, you could get some satin ribbons and sew them on to any shoe you liked. It seems a lot of shoes are canvas or fabric and that would be easy to do. If the shoes were white and you got white ribbons then dyed them together, a color that you want, they would match. (I've worked on a lot of costumes!)

Have a great time at the dance!

All the best, Dianne
