Question
I am 16 years old going on 17 in September. I have long been interested in taking dance especially ballet, jazz, modern or interpretive. I would like to ask you is it too late for me, even if I can't manage to get into a class until the beginning of my senior year in high school because of scheduling problems between school and work. I live in Baton Rouge, LA also and I don't know of any good schools or intense programs. What should I do to prepare for a dance education?

Answer
I need more information in order to answer this question. What are your goals, specifically?

Do you want to dance professionally? If so what style of dance, and what kind of job do you want? Or do you want to teach? Or do you just want to dance for fun?

Expertise

I have knowledge of and access to information about ballet technique and style, professional companies, ballet history, general care of the body, questions about dance education and studios, and other general topics. I can especially offer advice to adult beginners. I will not answer any questions that would be better left to a medical professional.

Experience

I have not danced professionally, but I am a dedicated student of ballet and modern dance. I have taken classes in dance history, performed in amateur productions, attended professional performances, and read and watched many books and videos on the subject. I have also reviewed ballet performances for an online publication.
