Ballet/too old?

Question
Hi there, I'm interested in starting ballet classes, but I'm 19 and have never had any experience in dance at all.
I live in Canterbury, England and would like to know everything there is to know about the world of ballet; how I can get into it and what is involved.
Thank you!

Answer
Hi Hannah. I recommend you call all your local studios, tell them how old you are, and ask if they have adult beginner classes.

I also recommend that you read some of my articles on http://www.theballetstore.com as I try my best to describe what you would be looking at when you are visiting ballet studios, to find a good teacher. I also have a series of articles on www.ezinearticles.com, about choosing a good ballet teacher.

Watch ballet movies - there are so many you can rent. Watching good quality companies infuses you with images of good technique and incredible talent.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. Ballet is a big world - but what you do in it is what counts.

A brief follow up - I've recommended to almost everyone to read my articles and blog entries at http://www.theballetstore.com You have to create a user name to log in to see all the blog entries - your privacy is safe! I really apologize that I didn't tell you this - I'm not a technical person!
