Ballet/weight!

hiya

i apsolutley love my dancing have been doing it all my life and i dance everyday!

however there is one thing that constantly gets me down which is my weight!

i am obsessed with it as i would not consider myself to be skinny and being in the dance studio all the time makes me obsess about my weight and i find myself staring at my bodyu and not concentrateing!

is there any thing i can do to get my legs slimmer, ive tried everything including many diets but noting seems to work !! im scared incase my obsession of my weight takes over my dancing as i am alredy believing that i am to fat to dance and that i wont get into laines theatre arts if im not skinny etc !!

i need helpp my weight is taking over my life what can i do !!!!!!

The tough thing about dance is that you really do need to be at a certain weight.  I would tell your teachers that you are concerned, and see if they think there's a problem.  If they don't you may not actually have anything to worry about.  If they do see if they have any advice or recommend a nutritionist you can go see.  A nutritionist will tell you what's wrong with your eating habits and help you eat better so that you can diet in a way that works for you.  good luck!

I can answer lots about ballet, specifically the Vaganova syllabus. I'm still training, but both my parents were professional dancers, so most answers will be coming from them, not me. :) They're the experts. Obviously, questions about difficult technique, etc, would be better answered with someone else, but if you're just becoming interested in dancing, or are having problems with basic steps, like pirouettes or plies, then I may be able to help
