I am a writer and am looking for information about the dances in the Armory in the forties. If you can please let me know what orchestras performd there at that time. Can you tell me the distance between Penselvania AVe. and Hyattsville MD. You are my last hope!!thanks - Gene

sorry I cannot help you much because i do not know which state hyattsville is in there are several that I know of.
I would try to google penn ave and hyattsville and get info on distance that way.
Have you trled googling bands of the 1940s decade?
ask senior citizens center in H to see if any seniors recall the bands. I would also google band circuits and managers and music of the 1940s.

I know big bands  on the east coast include benny goodman, bob crosby and the bobcats, paul whitman, duke ellington, glenn miller, red nichols and his 5 pennies, etc.
I am located on the west coast, sorry.  Oh, since it was an armory ask the dept of defence to check their records of armories and the uso shows, too. Dave Hyattsvilee historical society?

I got a 2 year degree at Los angeles city college, and 2 years study at LA state university. majoring in Psychology, and sociology.
