Question
Didn't Cal establish a foundation for research into Lou Gehrig's Disease (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) when he beat Gehrig's record?  I have tried to research it, but can't find it on-line.  Can you provide an e-mail or postal address?  Thanks very much.  Tired of folks knocking Cal for breaking the record ...

Answer
Cal Ripken didn't establish a separate foundation for research into ALS.  What he did is establish a fund at Johns Hopkins University, called the Cal Ripken/Lou Gehrig Fund for Neuromuscular Research.  The team, the local business community, and Ripken all contributed money to establish it.

You should be able to contact them at the following:

           Center for ALS Research
          The Johns Hopkins University
          Department of Neurology
         600 N. Wolfe Street, 6-109,
         Baltimore,  Maryland 21287 USA
