I live in the greater Phoenix area, USDA zone 9. I would like to grow bamboo for shade and privacy. What are the best species of bamboo for a hot, dry climate? How hard is bamboo to grow in my area, any special issues, water, soil, pests, etc.? Finally, how quickly will it grow and to what height. Thanks in advance for any provided information!

Thanks for your interest in bamboo cultivation. I am not aware about your area, climate etc. so I can't recommend any species. First you visit any local bamboo nursery, they might be suggest you any suitable species.
