Subject: The purpose of RG5.9 and RG6

Question
Plase tell me the function of the two cable. Like how and where to use,the connection, the condition, and the effect to the system.

Sorry for my English.Thank you.

Answer
Hi There Mohamad,

First of all the prefixed that you may find in them such as RG 59/U or RG 6/U specify it as utility, the RG prefix is for Radio General application, coaxial cables, they both have black polyvinyl sheating which is highly weather resistant, and a PE dielectric which is stable.

both cable has a charactristic impedance of 75 ohm, therefore they are compatible with systems that employ 75 ohms  transmission line impedance, however RG 6 has a less cable loss compared with RG 75 and RG 6 can handle much higher power compared with RG 75.

RG 6 are generaly used for high frequency radio signals, cable TV and satellite TV, or when longer runs of 75 ohms cables are required.

RG 59 are generaly used in radio base bands signals video in CCTV and other small signal application where the cable run is shorter.

best regards.
