Bankruptcy Law/AMENDING CHAPTER 7 BEFORE DISCHAGE

Question
Happy New Year to you.  I had my 341 hearing in December, 2007 and I am awaiting the discharge.  My car has since been repossessed (negotiations for reaffirmation fell through).  Can I Amend my Chapter 7 Bankruptcy to include this finance company before the Discharge is complete? Thanks you for your assistance.(Chicago, Illinois)

Answer
I would assume you have listed the car company on the bankruptcy, Schedule D of secured debts.  IF so, you do not need to amend as it is already listed.  If your car note wasn't on the schedules,  you need to file an amendment as soon as possible.  The court charges $26 to amend a schedule, + anything your attorney charges you to do it.
