Question
I am filing chapter 13 in the state of Georgia. I have 2 questions.

I have a car loan and a credit card which was co-signed by my grandmother. If I reaffirm the debt, how will it affect my grandmothers credit? I am trying to make it where my grandmothers credit is not affected at all. Is this possible? Both are current.

Also, In Georgia, will I be able to keep any of my tax refund if I file in the next week?

Answer
1. There are no reaffirmations in chapter 13.  You can choose to pay 100% of the claim with contract rate of interest to protect your grandmother, otherwise she'll be on the hook for anything not paid in your case.  Otherwise, it shouldn't affect her credit.

2. Refunds- your case will have to pay enough of the debts back to protect the refund, so speak with your lawyer about your state.
