happy new year sir...i have been undergoing the process for disability now since 2005  i have credited mds that state i cannot work.  i have a ten thousand student loan since 1990 and it has risen to 50 thousand dollars..i have the 25 year income contigency..hopefully i will be approved the disability this year..i require lawyer that could fight for me to get rid of the student l lawyer that could fight for me to get rid of the student loan..plus i have a hugh amount of debt..i get calls all the time from a collection agency that calls three times a day.  i was polite but he stated i had to get money  from my children..i became so upset and sick i wanted to just die now...i am in the peoria area but i would travel to get rid of all my debt it is so very hard to live like this  since i was so productive with being a police commissioner and medical assistant.  sir i am sick and disabled  i have an attorney for my disability but i am afraid they are not doing anything.  i filed my claim for a review on march of 2006. thank you

Chapter 7 can discharge consumer debt.  Student loans are normally non-dischargeable.  There is one exception, if you can show that you were paying the loans when you could, that you have no current ability to pay them anything, and that you have no future ability to pay them.  This is an extremely hard burden to overcome.  Typically, you have to have no ability to hold down a part time job at all.  You may contact me at the contact info in my profile if you wish to have a free consultation.
