Question
Hello, I live in the state of Arizona. I am a landlord and I rent out my home to a tenant that just filed banckruptcy chpt.7. We got a copy of the case, meeting of creditors and deadlines explanation sheet. I was wondering does the rent she pay for my property going to be affected by this banckruptcy? Is she going to be alowed to live in my property for free until the case is settled or what is the case? I dont understand why I got a copy of this document? I hope this is not the case, but if it is how long do I have to wait until I evict her?  Thanks, Carlos

Answer
You are listed because you are a creditor in her bankruptcy case by virtue of the lease she has with you.  Whether or not you can evict her depends on the laws of Arizona, and you need to check with a landlord/tenant attorney there.  You cannot do anything without first getting bankruptcy court permission, however.

As long as she continues paying the rent, Im not sure why it would be a concern to you.
